The embattled Director of the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital Dr. Eugene Dordoye has finally proceeded on leave.
In a letter cited by Kasapa News and copied to the various unit heads, the Accountant and Controller General, the deputy head of the Pharmaceutical Department of the hospital among others, Dr. Eugene Dordoye indicated that his leave commenced on Tuesday 27th of February, 2018.
The letter said he was handing over the deputy in charge of pharmaceutical services at the hospital Mr. Davis Otuo Serebuor to act in his stead.
This appears to be in sharp contrast to an earlier directive given by the Health Ministry.
The ministry in mid-February at a meeting with the staff of the hospital indicated that Dr. Eugene Dordoye was going to be removed from the facility after agitations for his removal by staff got rife.
The Medical Director has been accused by staff for what they describe as his poor working relations and corrupt practices among other charges.
A Deputy Minister of Health Tina Mensah in a meeting with the nurses last month said the medical director had been given a week to vacate his post.
With the latest development, Spokesperson for the staff at Ankaful Hospital, Emmanuel Ofori who declined to speak on record told Kasapa News’ Central regional correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour that they are surprised at the latest turn in events.
He, however, said in the interim, they will remain calm and observe as events unfold at the facility.
