Staff of the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital have abandoned inmates as they begin a sit down strike.

They are furious over the refusal of the Health Minster to sack their Medical Director, Dr. Eugene Dordoye whom they accuse of being corrupt and having poor human relations and managerial skills.

An ultimatum was given by the aggrieved staff after they rejected an apology from their boss expired last night.

Secretary for the Psychiatric Nurses at the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital, Malcom Ali told Starr News that they have also suspended admission of new patients.

“Its rather unfortunate because we don’t know what will happen to them, there was an emergency meeting yesterday by management and all in-charges of the various wards were told to bring patients for discharge.

As at yesterday we had about 11 patients discharged, eight have gone home and the rest are waiting for their relatives to come for them. We will come to work, write our names but we will not do anything until our hospital director is removed from the hospital.”

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has invited leaders of the agitating workers for an emergency meeting over the impasse.
