The Health Ministry has lauded the decision by staff and workers of the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in the Central region to halt their month-long sit-down strike.

The aggrieved staff refused to work under the facility’s Medical Director, Dr Eugene Dordoye, after they levelled allegations of mismanagement and maltreatment of staff against him.

The workers and staff were seeking for the immediate removal of Dr Dordoye claiming their health was at risk.

After a meeting with the Labour Commission on Tuesday, December 19, the staff agreed to resume operations and let the commission resolve the issue. Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital Nurses Association, Emmanuel Kofi Ofori told Class FM that they are hopeful the matter will be resolved within the shortest possible time.

Meanwhile, the health ministry said they remain committed to finding lasting solutions to the impasse.
