Anomabo (C/R) Oct. 12, GNA - Kantamanto Amonu XI, Omanhen of the Anomabo traditional area on Saturday repeated a call on the government to rehabilitate the Anomabo Fort to increase the number of tourists to the town.
The Omanhen, who made the call in his welcoming address, at a durbar to climax the week-long annual Okyir festival of the chiefs and people also appealed to the government to rehabilitate roads in the town and other feeder roads linking the town with nearby communities to facilitate movement of foodstuffs and people.
He further appealed to the government to help in the provision of a surgical theatre for the local health post to accommodate theatre equipment, which continue to lie idle.
A Deputy Minister for Information, Mr Asamoah Boateng, currently touring the Central Region, who addressed them explained the importance of the National Health Insurance Scheme to the people.
He told them that efforts would be made to secure a bigger transformer to replace the current one serving the area to improve upon their power supply.
Mr Boateng called on fishermen in the town to come together and form co-operatives to enable them purchase bigger vessels that would be more economically viable their present methods of fishing. The new District Chief Executive for the area, Mr Quainoo Arthur called for cooperation from the chiefs to ensure rapid development. He appealed to the people to honour their tax obligation.
