Ho, May 21, GNA- Four persons travelling from Kumasi to Ho in a 207 Benz Bus with registration number AS 3995 V on Saturday sustained various degrees of injuries when their vehicle, carrying plantain hit the back of a parked tipper truck in Ho at about 2025 hours. The accident happened near the offices of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), only about a kilometre to the point of disembarkation of the passengers.
The four, who are responding to treatment at the Volta Regional Hospital are Ms Avaka Akorfa, 35, from Adaklu Waya, a Kente Dealer, Ms Doris Kotto, Plantain Seller, from Taviefe near Ho, Mr Kwabena Badu, popularly known as Baffour, Driver of the bus and Saddique Alhassan, his mate.
Mr. Badu, the driver of the 207 Benz Bus told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that he was blinded by the high lights of an on coming Metro bus and a parked taxi cab and drove into to the stationary vehicle with registration number GR 2340 N.
He claimed that there were no signs indicating that a broken down vehicle was ahead.
Mr Gabriel Dartey, Station Officer at the Ghana National Fire Service who was an eyewitness and a leader of the Service's duty crew who rescued the victims, said it was their timely intervention that prevented the mangled vehicle from burning.
The rescue team retrieved an amount of 32,030,000 cedis in a polythene bag, 1,173,000 cedis in a handbag and one Samsung mobile phone.
