Another Kludze Distinguishes Himself

The University of London has conferred on Dr. A. Kodzo Kludze, a distinguished Ghanaian Professor of Law at Rutgers University in the United States, a Higher Doctorate degree in Law. This highest degree (higher than a PhD) in the books of the University of London, was conferred to him this summer for his exceptional academic contribution to African Law.

He is the first Ghanaian to be awarded such a degree based solely on academic excellence. Even Dr. J. B. Danquah, one of our foremost learned academics, did not have the opportunity to be awarded this highest honour in the academia.

Professor Kludze attended the Roman Catholic boys school in Hohoe and Adisadel College in Cape Coast. Dr. Kludze received his BA and LLB degrees from the Univeristy of Ghana, where he graduated at the top of his class after taking his final university exams from a Kwame Nkrumah political detention camp - jail. According to a former classmate who idenfied himself as Edusei, "the top was always reserved for Dr. Kludze, right from his Adisadel days through Legon." He received his PhD from the University of London in 1969.

While a studet at Legon, he served as the president of NUGS and other international student bodies. Dr. Kludze taught at the University of Ghana from 1965 to 1977. He has been a visiting professor at Temple University, a professor and Dean at the University of Calabar in Nigeria. He has writeen numerous articles in respectable journals around the globe. He is a world-renowned expert on African Law and has five law books to his credit. Prof. Kludze also happens to be the father of the only Ghanaian born Rocket Scientist at NASA and the first African to fly a spacecraft.

The Kludzes are really making Ghanaians very pround and it hoped that their accomplishments would motivate others since Ghana apart from our poverty, is full of great minds.
