A second suspect has been picked up in connection with the gruesome murder of the former Marketing and Public Affairs Manager of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Josephine Tanor Asante.

Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE at GPHA and the police indicates that personnel of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) stormed the residence of Amos Apreku, the personnel driver of the late Josephine at Saki Central, near Michel Camp and arrested him last Wednesday.

Amos has since been remanded into police custody to enable the police conduct further investigations into the matter.

The suspect reportedly drove the late Marketing and Public Affairs Manager from the senior and management staff end-of-year party.

Reports say the suspect left the car for her boss at Michel Camp Bus Stop, and it was the GPHA top official, who personally drove the car from Michel Camp Bus Stop to her residence at Emefs Estate at Mataheko, near Tema

According to police report, on January 13, 2018, at about 8:30 am, an attempt to open the bedroom door of Josephine Asante failed.

Driver of the deceased was said to have been contacted by the deceased’s 12-year-old son who told him about happenings in the house.

The driver rushed to the house of the deceased.

Upon entering the house, he found a bunch of keys allegedly used in opening the main gate of the house at the entrance.

One of the keys was then used to open the bedroom door of the deceased who was found in a supine position in a pool of blood on the floor.

The driver lodged a complaint with police who arrived at the scene and later saw the houseboy burying a polythene bag containing an amount of GH¢430 close to the boys’ quarters in the house.

A wristwatch of the deceased was also found in the polythene bag.

Meanwhile, one-week celebration of the murdered Josephine Asante would be held today at the Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Community 1.

Funeral arrangement would be announced later.

As part of Josephine’s one-week observation, the Board and management of GPHA have directed that a Book of Condolence be opened at the head office starting from Wednesday, January 23, 2019 to Thursday, January 31, 2019.
