Anti-Corruption NPP MP Victimized?

'I am Disappointed With Select Committee'

The outspoken NPP MP for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa, Mr. P. C. Appiah Ofori says the decision by the select committee of Parliament to sideline him was very unfortunate. He said his removal as chairman of the select committee on Poverty and Government Assurance is an indication that his NPP people are uncomfortable with his corruption crusade.

Hon. Appiah Ofori noted that his critical comments on corruption and the need for accountability has cost him his post as committee chairman even though he is a senior MP.

He told PeaceFM in an interview that he has been removed as chairman of Poverty and Government Assurance Committee because he was not ready to compromise on his position on accountability and corruption. He spoke to PeaceFM shortly after Parliament had approved the Select Committee report. The selection committee is under the chairmanship of the Speaker and the majority leader, Owusu Agyepong. Hon. Appiah Ofori believes that the committee has been unfair to him. He has insisted that he will fight corruption within the government to the end.
