Antwi Danso Calls For Overhaul Of CPP Leadership

A leading member of the Convention People?s Party, (CPP), Dr. Vladimir Antwi-Danso has called for a total overhaul of the leadership of the party.

According to Dr. Antwi-Danso, the current leadership of the party lacks the necessary vision that Ghana?s first President Dr. Nkrumah was endowed with.

Dr. Nkrumah was the founder of the CPP the party on whose ticket he became the country?s president.

Reacting to a proposal by the PNC for a merger with the CPP, Dr. Antwi-Danso said the move was long over due and that the bane of the party had always been its leadership, which he thinks, was not pro-active.

? I have said that there is no wisdom for the splinter parties to call themselves CPP members when they are unable to come together. From 1952, I have been at the forefront calling on all CPP members to come together?, he said.

He said he could not reckon with the fact that some persons or parties could think of winning an election in their splinter self, adding that it was just unwise but was, however, happy that they have come to a realisation to merge.

Dr Antwi Danso, however, warned that if the party do not come together, some members of the party such as himself would have a big revolution by working with the youth groups of all parties to kick them out.

Asked of the merger with the NDC, Dr Antwi-Danso said an NDC party led by Jerry Rawlings would never understand a merger with the CPP.

?The merger was very significant because almost all the constituencies currently held by the NDC and NPP belonged to the CPP and stressed the need for the leadership of the party to strategise and do scientific analysis to be able to regain those constituencies.?

He indicated that he has nothing against the current leadership of the CPP, but stated that they lack vision and have no strategy because they spent their time antagonising each other.
