Election 2024: Any attempts to disrupt peace or democracy will be met with swift justice – President

NDC Flagbearer John Mahama has accused the NPP of collapsing the economy

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated that any efforts to destabilise Ghana’s democracy in the lead-up to the December 7 general elections would be fiercely resisted.

According to the president, the integrity of the electoral process is a top priority.

Delivering his final National Best Farmer Awards address, the outgoing president assured Ghanaians that he remains committed to preserving peace and security in the upcoming elections.

He asserted that a lot of hard work had gone into building a stable democracy, and we must preserve it.

To him, Ghana’s democracy is one that now stands as an example across Africa and beyond.

President Akufo-Addo praised past leaders, civil society, and Ghanaians for promoting peace and urged citizens and politicians to prioritise unity, safeguarding Ghana’s democratic principles.

“As we approach the 2024 general elections, let me make one thing absolutely clear again. I am unwavering in my commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections. Ghana’s democracy is a treasure we have all fought to build and a legacy that must be protected.

“The sovereign will of the Ghanaian people will be upheld, and any attempts to disrupt the peace or undermine the democratic process will be met with the full weight of the law. Let there be no doubt that our democracy will remain strong and the people’s choice will prevail.”
