The claims by Koku Anyidoho, former Head of Communications at the Presidency, that he has been appointed the deputy National Security Coordinator at the Castle Annex popularly called Blue Gate, seems to be nothing but wishful thinking.
Rather, the right-hand man of former President John Evans Atta Mills, who had been missing in action since the death of his former boss, was dumped on Lt Colonel Larry Gbevlo Lartey, the National Security Coordinator.
Lt Col Gbevlo-Lartey said no changes had been effected at the National Security Council Secretariat, contrary to planted media reports that Mr Anyidoho was made one of his deputies.
The security capo, whose job is equally shaky, indicated that there was no vacancy at his outfit for Koku Anyidoho to fill.
“The National Security Coordinator and his two deputies are still at post as the President has made no new appointments here,” a statement signed by the Security Coordinator explained.
The statement noted that Mr. Koku Anyidoho, a former Head of Communications at the Presidency, had not been appointed to any particular position at the National Security Council Secretariat.
“Mr. Anyidoho and other officers have been asked to report to the National Security Coordinator to be assigned,” the statement issued on Friday indicated.
Two newspapers including the Ghanaian Lens owned by Koku Anyidoho, had published that he had been appointed a deputy National Security Coordinator to assist Gbevlo-Lartey.
“The appointment reaffirms President Mahama’s strategy of unifying the NDC and building bridges within the party to ensure the smooth running of his government.
“Even more revealing is the fact that Mr. Anyidoho would be one of the youngest to have been posted to such a high outfit of the national security.
“But not all would be happy about Koku Anyidoho’s new job as he has been a thorn in the flesh of the main opposition NPP even as he was in charge of the communications portfolio in Ex-President Mills’ government,” The Republic printed on Thursday.
However before the publication could sink, the order came that Anyidoho had been dumped at the Blue Gate for reassignment, indicating that the Blue Gate had become a dumping ground for ex-appointees of Mills who are not in the good books of President John Mahama.
