Anyinam(E/R), Oct. 26, GNA - The Anyinam Police, led by Chief Inspector John Siaw, have arrested two suspected armed robbers who attacked a taxi driver, Mark Tekpo and took away his Hyundai Excel taxi cab with registration number GT 5158 G at gun point on September 30, this year at Fremponso village near Anyinam. According to Chief Inspector Siaw, at about 2130 hours on that day, three young men hired the taxi cab from Anyiman to Fremponso village on the Anyinam-Nkawkaw road.
He said, when they got to the village, two of them pulled a pistol and other offensive weapons and ordered the driver to hand over the key of the vehicle to them which he did and later reported the incident to the Anyiman police.
He said on October 2, this year, following a tip-off, two of the suspects, Yaw Asare, 22, and Nana Yaw, 20, were arrested at Nsuapimso, near Osino, while the third suspect is on the run. The Chief Inspector said, when a search was conducted in their rooms, a black bag containing a driving license, a voters identity card, a vehicle income tax receipt and some documents on the stolen vehicle were found.
He said the two suspects admitted the offence and Asare informed the police that he had sent the vehicle to a friend at Adukrom-Akuapem to be used for commercial purpose. The two suspects have been remanded in prison custody by Anyinam Magistrate court on a provisional charge of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery to appear on November 11, this year for trial.
