Apostolic Nuncio confirms 69 Catholics in Accra

Accra, Aug. 16, GNA - The Most Rev Leon Kalenga, the Apostolic Nuncio in Ghana, on Sunday confirmed 69 Catholics at the Our Lady of Assumption (OLA) Catholic Church at New Achimota in Accra.

In a sermon, The Most Rev Kalenga urged them to use Jesus Christ as the yardstick in all their endeavours as the best role model.

"Jesus Christ was full of love, compassion and humility on earth making Him an ideal role model for us all," he said.

He urged the congregation to love each other and be each other's keeper since they were all one in Christ Jesus.

The Most Rev Kalenga appealed to Ghanaians not to let religion become a barrier to peace in the country but rather learn to be tolerant of each other's religion.

"Since Ghana was the first to gain independence in Sub-Saharan Africa, so must we be the pacesetters when upholding peace on the continent," he said.

The Nuncio dedicated a kindergarten built 2008 by the church that has 200 pupils in four classrooms.
