A member of the Appointments Committee of Parliament and Member of Parliament (MP) for Bodi Constituency in Western North Region, Sampson Ahi, has taken a swipe at the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration for appointing deputy ministers for the newly created regions.

President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made appointments to the six newly created regions and ministerial changes to four other existing regions.

Six ministers and their corresponding deputy ministers have been appointed to the six new regions.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bodi, Sampson Ahi, described this move by the government as needless and uncalled for.

Citing the Bono East and Ahafo regions, the legislator stated that these two regions were created out of the Brong Ahafo Region which already had a substantive Minister and a deputy.

He added that the deputy ministers for the regions out of which the new regions were created could have been made ministers and not necessarily adding a deputy Minister to the portfolio.

According to Sampson Ahi, there is no law forcing the President to appoint deputy ministers at all cost.

He added that these appointments drain the nation financially.
