The Trust Newspaper investigation has gathered that, the Assembly member for the Aputuoagya electoral area in the Bosomtwe District ,Hon. Joseph Asante will soon drag the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Hon.Vernoca Antwi Adjei and the Assembly to court over five(5) years old uncollected garbage which is currently creating health hazard for the residents in the area.
The move by the Assembly member, according to our source is based on the failure of the Assembly’s to collect the refuse about five years ago even though, the assembly is still collecting toll from the residents of Aputuoagya for dumping of refuse in the site .
Our source explained that, the current assembly member sometimes ago even approach the assembly asking the authorities for the permission to clear the refuse before constructing a modern toilet facility to replace the dilapidated old toilet but the assembly refused and handed the contract to another person who has already constructed a new toilet facility virtually blocking the old one and also refusing to clear the garbage.
A working visit to the site indicates that, the community has been engulfed by refuse which stink badly and can cause many diseases. The situation has become a major challenged confronting the aforementioned community, considering the fact that it is creating hazardous environment for the members of the town.
The stink nature of the uncollected garbage which is also accommodating a toilet facility has been a major worried to the residents and stakeholders in the area.
When contacted Hon. Asante Joseph, the Assembly-man of the community confirmed that, he will soon drag the Assembly to court should the assembly fail to clear the refuse within few days.
The Assembly member said in spite of the countless complaints he has so far lodged to the office of the District Chief Executive (DCE), all he keep on receiving is assurance upon assurance whiles his people are still suffering because of somebody’s inaction.
The Assembly member recalled that, at a recent forum organized by the Garden City Radio in Kumasi, a subsidiary of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) for NDC Parliamentary candidates at Aputuoagya which was attended by opinion leaders including the queen mother of Aputuoagya as well as many residents, he raised the issued again and the DCE promised to clear the garbage within two (2) weeks but is now more than 4 weeks since that assurance was giving.
