Parliament has approved the nomination of four ministerial nominees of President John Dramani Mahama, following their vetting by the Appointments Committee.
The approved ministers are Tia Ibrahim, North East Regional Minister; Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister; Akamugri Atanga Donatus, Upper East Regional Minister; and Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.
Their approval follows a rigorous vetting process, during which members of the committee assessed their qualifications, experiences, and suitability for their respective roles.
For Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, his approval was vehemently opposed by the Minority in Parliament, citing his refusal to apologise for comments made about President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his final State of the Nation Address on January 3, 2025.
Reacting to Akufo-Addo's State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Friday, January 3, 2025, the Member of Parliament of Ellembelle said “This administration’s abysmal record was confirmed on December 7 when the people of Ghana returned the most overwhelming and emphatic vote of rejection of any government ever witnessed under the fourth republic."
However, during his vetting, he acknowledged that his remarks were not intended to offend the former president, but rather it reflected the prevailing circumstances at the time.
“I have a lot of respect for President Akufo-Addo and any president who occupies this highest office of our land.
“The decisions they are confronted with are enormous and grave, and I don’t think we take that lightly at all. My comments were directed at his government, reflecting the views of the Ghanaian people who felt they had gone through significant hardships," he stated.
