Armed Robbery: Deputy Gov't Spokesperson Hospitalised !

A group of armed men believed to be robbers, late last night attacked the East-Legon home of the deputy government spokesperson, Mr. Kwabena Agyepong. According to the Minister for Media relations, Miss Elizabeth Ohene, Kwabena Agyapong sustained injuries during the attack and has been admitted at the 37 Military Hospital where he is responding well to treatment.

Miss Ohene said his injuries are not life threatening. He received stitches to close up a wound on his head. Doctors are however yet to conduct an x-ray to find out if he sustained other internal injuries. The robbers, numbering about eight are reported to have broken into the house.

Mr. Agyepong said he heard an unusual noise and came out to find out what the problem was only to be confronted by the robbers who demanded money. Since he did not have money on him, he offered the robbers money from his wife’s bag but they were not satisfied. They fired shots and in the ensuing confusion, Mr. Agyepong sustained injuries. His wife and children were however unhurt.

Miss Ohene said she believes the attack was merely a robbery and not a threat on Mr. Agyepong’s life. “I’m reluctant to read anything into it. The police are investigating and we are waiting for them to come up with a report before we say anything,” she said.
