Takoradi (Western Region), 13 Nove, 1998 A Takoradi contractor, Ben Moses is reported to have been robbed of 16 million cedis by gangsters. The robbery occurred shortly after he had withdrawn money from the Ghana Commercial Bank in Cape Coast. Briefing newsmen at the Regional Police Headquarters, Mr. Moses said he left the 16 million cedis and six million cedis he had just withdrawn from the Bank, in his black Toyata Pick-up with registration number CR 38 P. According to him he moved the car a short distance away from the bank and parked it in front of the Methodist Book Depot to deliver a message. He returned to find out that someone had forcibly opened his car and made away with the money. The contractor said, acting on the information given him by a little girl who witnessed the incident, he tried to pursue the gangs to the Moree barrier but could not trace them in their red opel cadet saloon car in which they are said to have sped off with their booty. The Regional Crime Officer, Batholomew Agbenyegah says the police will employ all possible means to get the culprits.
