Armed robbers break into Nkawkaw MP's residence

Nkawkaw, April 2, GNA - Five armed robbers wielding locally manufactured pistols, cutlasses and clubs broke into the residence of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkawkaw, Mr Okerchiri Kwabena Edusa last Monday.

They took away seven million cedis, four mobile phones belonging to the MP, his wife and his driver and a Sony DVD deck.

According to the Nkawkaw Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Klomegah, the MP and his family were engaged in some Easter activities at Obomeng at the Kwahu Ridge on Easter Monday night when the robbers struck.

He said the MP's driver, Kwasi Asante returned from Obomeng at about 0100 hours on that day to meet the robbers at the MP's residence. The robbers attacked him and inflicted cutlass wounds on his head before forcing the slide door open and taking away the items. The District Police Commander said the robbers bolted before the Police got there and said no arrest had been made but investigations were going on.

All efforts to contact the MP had failed.
