Security Analyst, Dr. Kwesi Anning, says there is a need for the Leader of the vigilante group; Delta force to be apprehended following his acknowledgement of the group’s violent activities and subsequently an order for his ‘boys’ to cease their activities.

Kwadwo Fosu Bamba as he is identified came out to call his boys to order, urging them to desist from any acts likely to mar the peace of the country.

“The whole world everybody was saying what we did was bad never happened before. We feel bad about it. We will make sure it won’t happen again.
“I will take this opportunity to tell all my fellow security in the NPP that we should give respect to the president.

He said he would tour the whole country to tell members to “stay calm, respect the IGP, the president and Ghanaians in general”, were his words.

Speaking to Joynews, Mr. Anning said the police service should have taken this as a hint that these persons knew the effects of previous violent acts put up by their members and arrested their boss.

“When I heard that the Delta Force Boss had ordered his boys to stop what they were doing, I thought the police would have arrested the Delta Force boss immediately because that was a recognition that a: he was complicit in the crime that had been committed and 2: he had encouraged his boys to flout the authority of the President and the substitute security forces but no such thing has happened.

He argues that when such issues are overlooked by the leadership and security services, others are not deterred from engaging in or repeating such mistakes knowing that there will be no grave disciplinary measures.

“Meaning that, the signal is clear, when you commit crime and you publicly say you won’t commit crimes again then it means that you are a free person but when we live in such a dangerous environment, such individuals and groups, political vigilantes, landguards, must be punished according to the law and we are not using the law to punish people to serve as a deterrent and that is dangerous in the short to medium term”.

Vigilante groups under the NPP have in recent times engaged in several violent attacks, vandalism, assault and lawlessness.

They among other things chased out heads of District NHIS offices, School Feeding Programs, YEA and demanded to have their men man those offices.

They also attacked the passport office, the Driver and Vehicle License Authority demanding to have control over those sensitive installations.

In a record breaking act of impunity, the group invaded the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator’s office, bundled the security coordinator out of the office.

Recently, they chased out the Regional Coordinator and staff of the Northern Regional Secretariat of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) out of his office, and locked up the offices over what they called unfair allocation of schools in the region to caterers.
