A mango and teak plantation covering over two hundred (200) acres belonging to the Member of Parliament for Krachi East Michael Yaw Gyato has been totally burnt to the ground by arsonists over the siting of Dambai, and not Kete Krachi as Oti regional capital; MyNewsGh.com can report.

The Mango plantation measuring about 130 acres and a Teak plantation measuring 70 acres were burnt to the ground during the midnight of Valentine ’s Day.

All other short-term food crops planted within the farm were all burnt to ashes. Another farm in the Krachi West District belonging to a family member of the NPP MP was also burnt down.

The fire is believed to have been set on the midnight of Wednesday 14th February, 2019, less than 24 hours after the burning of the Salaga South New Patriotic Party Constituency Office by a section of the youth Tuesday February 12, 2019 over the selection of Damongo as Capital of another new region, the Savannah Region.

The residents of Kete-Krachi are blaming the Krachi East NPP MP for being instrumental in convincing President Akufo-Addo and other stakeholders to take the capital of the new Oti Region to Dambai, instead of Kete-Krachi.

MyNewsGh.com’s source close to Police said the youth in Kete Krachi prior to the announcement of the capital had threatened to burn down an estate in the area, which belonged to Hon Michael Gyato who hailed from Kete Krachi.

Although Michael Yaw Gyato hailed from Kete Krachi (under Krachi West) he is not their MP.

He rather represents in parliament Krachi-East whose capital is Dambai.

Kete Krachi which falls under Krachi West is under a different MP, Helen Adjoa Ntoso of the NDC.

Hon Gyato grew up in Kete-Krachi, owns a house there and other streams of businesses including the huge plantation farm which has been burnt down. Security for his house and family in Kete-Krachi has been beefed up.

Security has also been beefed up for the NPP MP, his properties, businesses, and family.
