The debate over Johnson Asiedu Nketia’s wardrobe faux pas in Germany is “childish”, former flagbearer-aspirant of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Arthur Kobina Kennedy has said.
The Doctor-turned-Politician also described as “disgusting”, attempts to draw him into the debate, even though he said he has not made any comments about it.
“Friends, I am informed that there are comments circulating on social media attributed to me on Gen. Mosquito’s [Asiedu Nketia] wardrobe.
“Those comments are false. I consider his wardrobe beneath my attention and will not comment on it,” Dr Kennedy wrote on Facebook, adding: “I am disgusted by the efforts to drag me into this childish debate. ‘Mere Dzi me fie asem’ [I’m minding my own business]—please,” Dr Kennedy said.
Asiedu Nketia has been the butt of jokes on social media after pictures of him surfaced wearing his wife’s fur coat in Germany during a recent trip by President John Mahama to the European country for a two-day state visit.
He has been caricatured and mocked at in many ways following the fashion faux pas.
The NDC General Secretary has, however, shrugged off the derision of him on social media and on various radio stations.
He laughed off the mockery saying: “Brain work goes on at state visits…we don’t go on state visits for fashion shows.”
“I’m glad they are not accusing me of stealing state funds for shopping in Germany, but rather accusing me of wearing my wife’s fur coat in Germany to keep me warm,” he said.
According to him, “No German told me the fur coat was for women so those Ghanaians who are experts at telling male winter coats from feminine ones should go on talking.”
