THE Asamankese police in the Eastern Region have launched a manhunt for Adu Agyei – the campaign manager for Shirley Naana Ampem, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Lower West Akim Constituency – for allegedly threatening to kill Comfort Boadu, the constituency Women Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Adu Agyei is said to have disappeared from the constituency and the police have declared him wanted.

A police source who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said the NPP Women Organiser reported that last Thursday she addressed a forum of the Young Elephants, a youth wing of the NPP, at Akanten, and in her comment, said the NDC parliamentary candidate, Shirley Naana Frimpong, was giving loans to the women in the constituency without any interest. She (Women Organiser) said she thought the candidate was using that to buy votes, therefore, the constituents should ignore her and vote for the NPP.

According to the source, Adu Agyei, after the programme, called Mrs Boadu on her mobile phone and threatened to kill her if she dared talk about or call Naana Frimpong’s name on any of her political platforms.

Mrs Comfort Boadu, who found the message threatening, went to the police station to report the matter.

The police were said to have invited Adu Agyei, but he failed to show up and has instead disappeared from the constituency.

When contacted by DAILY GUIDE, Mrs Comfort Boadu said she had since been living in fear.

Meanwhile, DAILY GUIDE attempts to get to Mr Adu Agyei at press time yesterday proved futile.
