Saltpond (C/R), Nov. 25, GNA - Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, a Deputy Minister of Information has donated equipment worth about 18,000 US dollars to the Saltpond Government Hospital.
The items included wheelchairs, clutches, walking sticks, Foley's Catheter, suction catheter B.P. apparatus, insulin syringes and others. Speaking at a ceremony, which was attended by all the five paramount chiefs in Mfantseman, Mr. Asamoah Boateng said he solicited the items from friends and organisations from outside the country. He said as a citizen of the area who knew the problems of the Hospital, he decided to seek support from friends to improve the situation.
Mr. Asamoah Boateng commended the staff of the Hospital for giving of their best under difficult conditions and assured them of his continued support.
He said he was expecting another consignment of drugs and equipment soon for the Hospital.
Mr. Robert Quainoo-Arthur, District Chief Executive for Mfantseman introduced Mr. Asamoah Boateng to the gathering as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Mfantseman West and appealed to the people to give him their mandate to represent the constituency in Parliament.
Miss Margaret Minnah, Deputy Director of Nursing Service who received the items thanked the Deputy Minister for the gesture and assured him of using them to enhance health delivery at the Hospital. Mr. J.B. Abaidoo Abban, Administrator, enumerated some of the problems facing the Hospital and appealed to other citizens and benefactors to come to their aid.
Nana Kweku Ewusie VII, Omanhene of Abeadze Dominase Traditional Area, expressed gratitude to the donor for his concern for the Hospital and the health of the people of the area and assured him of their support in his effort to become MP for the area.
