Beds And Iv Posts To Agona-Ashanti District Hospital.
Asante Agonamankuo of North America on August 28, 2012 donated 10 new hospital bed sets and 10 IV posts to Agona-Ashanti District Hospital at a cost of $6,500.(GhC12,000) The mission of the association is helping our community in Ghana to have access to good health, portable drinking water and good education. Members of the Association are citizens of Asante Agona Traditional Area – Agona, Akrofonso, Afanamanso, Bedomase and Bipoa residing in North America.
The President and the Financial Secretary of the association, Mr. Samuel Adu and Mr Kwasi Asamoah Afriyie respectively visited the hospital recently, were surprised to see patients lying on the floor at the hospital due to lack of beds. Based on their report, the association decided to assist by donating 10 set of hospital beds and 10 IV posts.
This donation is in line with the association‘s ongoing assistance to the hospital to ensure it meets full hospital status. The association solicited the assistance of Mr. Osei Amo-Mensah, Chief Financial Officer of Mining & Building Contractors an underground mining development company based at Adansi Obuasi, to locate a medical equipment vendor in Ghana to supply the beds to the hospital. On behalf of the association, Mr Osei Amo-Mensah handed the 10 new complete beds and 10 IV posts to the MP of the area, Hon David Hennric Yeboah, the DCE, Honorable Kusi Ayarkwa, the Medical Director of the hospital and community leaders
In his presentation, Mr. Osei Amo-Mensah stressed on proper care and good maintenance not only on the beds but all properties in the facility and also use them for the purpose they were donated.
The MP, DCE and the Residing Doctor thanked the association for their kind gesture and appealed to all citizens and associations both abroad and within to continue to support the hospital so patients will continue to receive quality care.
The next project that association has targeted is to equip the new empty surgical ward which was built by the MP through MP common fund. It has been estimated that it will cost about $20,000 to furnish each surgical room with basic equipment for minor surgeries.
The association’s annual congress for this year will be held in East Hartford, Connecticut, USA on September 1 and 2, 2012. We are entreating all members’, friends and philanthropies’ to join us to raise fund for the next project.
