Asante-Mampong doctors rescind decision to abandon hospital

Mampong (Ash), Jan. 6, GNA - Doctors at the Asante-Mampong District Hospital, who threatened to abandon work at the hospital on Tuesday, December 30, last year, following an acute shortage of water at the hospital, have rescinded their decision.

Their decision followed the amicable resolution of the issue with Mr Thomas Edward Atakorah, Sekyere West District Chief Executive and some officials of the Assembly last Friday.

During deliberations over the water issue it was agreed that the Mampong office of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) should put the hospital on priority in the rationing of water and then followed by educational institutions.

The new arrangement would be sustained until facilities at the headwork of the company had been expanded to meet the water demands of Mampong and its environs.

The DCE appealed to other consumers likely to be affected in the reduction in the water supply to bear with the authorities whilst the assembly lobbied the Minister of Works and Housing to have the facility at the headwork expanded.

The doctors expressed their appreciation for the assembly's initiative and gave the assurance that they would provide quality health service to the people.
