Asantehene commended for being development-oriented

Konkori (Ash), Sept 4, GNA - The Manfo Traditional Council has commended Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, for demonstrating in practical terms his commitment for initiating and facilitating development in various spheres of human endeavour aside the traditional institution.

Nana Kwame Ntim II, Paramount Chief of Manfo, said the institution of the Otumfuo Education Fund and the HIV/AIDS programme were enough testimony of the Asantehene's genuine commitment to socio-economic development and should be lauded.

Nana Ntim made the commendation at a durbar at Konkori in the Ahafo-Ano North district on Saturday to deliberate over the Asantehene's development programmes initiated for them.

It was also used as a platform for Nana Ntim to brief the chiefs and people about the Asantehene's development plans and what is expected of traditional rulers in respect of development projects in their areas of jurisdiction.

Nana Ntim particularly lauded the Asantehene for initiating and facilitating construction of a new primary school block, a library, teachers' quarters and source of good drinking water for the Konkori community.

He said the only way the chiefs in the area and their subjects can reciprocate the Asantehene's gesture is by ensuring that all children of school-going age enrol in the school.

This apart, they should have a planned programme drawn up for regular communal labour and maintenance of structures at the school.
