A "destooled" Omanhene for the New Juaben Traditional Area will be the subject of discussion when those who claim to have destooled him meet the Asantehene Thursday.
Ex-Nseniehene, Nana Yaw Annor Boateng, Spokesperson for the aggrieved group of 10 destooled sub-chiefs say in accordance with custom, they would have to officially go to the Manhyia palace to inform the Overlord of the Asante kingdom- Otumfuo Osei Tutu II that, Daasebre Prof. Oti Boateng ceases to hold himself as Omanhene for the area.
Daasebre Prof. Oti Boateng was allegedly destooled by the aggrieved ex-sub-chiefs because, they claim he is autocratic and has contravened some traditions of the area.
At a public ceremony last Monday, the sub-chiefs slaughtered a ram, poured libation and invoked their ancestral spirits to signify their destoolment of the chief.
Nana Yaw Annor Boateng says they expected the Omanhene to make counter invocations, but to date, he has not. Daasebre Prof. Oti Boateng has rather reported the matter to the Police.
Nana Yaw Annor Boateng told Joy News "we will be meeting tomorrow by all means. We have to go to Manhyia through the Juabenhene to go and tell Otumfuo through his linguist".
Daasebre Oti Boateng has denied the chiefs’ claims and maintains the chiefs have no locus to perform such a ritual.
The Eastern Regional House of Chiefs says it still recognizes him as paramount chief of the area.
But ex-Nseniehene rebuts that the Regional House of Chiefs' recognition for the Omanhene is only "institutional" because as far as customs are concerned, Daasebre Oti Boateng is no longer Omanhene.
It will be up to the Asantehene to determine the way forward after he is informed, he said.
