Asantehene to visit the Netherlands

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will visit The Netherlands on 17 June this year. The one-week visit is at the invitation of the government of The Netherlands. The visit is also to reciprocate the visit of the Dutch Royals, His Royal Highness Prince of Orange and His Royal Highness Princess Maxima last April.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who announced this at a sitting of the Asanteman Council last Monday said the Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu II would act in his absence.
Meanwhile, the Asantehene has expressed his dissatisfaction about the inability of the paramountcies to organise a meeting for him (Asantehene) to meet and interact with the people in the various traditional areas. He said on his return from The Netherlands, he would draw a programme to visit traditional areas even if he is not invited.
The Asantehene has so far visited Worawora in the Volta Region. He intends visiting Mampong Manso Nkwanta and Bechem as soon as possible.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II note that three years on the Golden Stool is a long time for him to have toured most parts of his kingdom and called for Nananom’s cooperation to make his (Otumfuo) proposed tour of the paramountcies a reality and success. –
