Asanteman Association of USA donates to KATH

Kumasi, April 5, GNA - The Asanteman Association of USA Incorporated, a society of Asanteman citizens resident in the United States, on Tuesday presented medical items valued at about 10 million cedis to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

They comprised eight walkers, two wheelchairs and three suitcases of assorted clothing. Nana Nyantakyi, head of the association, said the items, procured through fund-raising dances and voluntary donations, were the members' contribution towards helping to guarantee quality health for Ghanaians.

The association has since 1985 adopted the C2 Surgical Ward of KATH and made various contributions towards its maintenance. Mrs. Joana Appiah-Dwomoh, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, commended members of the association for their concern for the health needs of their brothers and sisters in Ghana.

She observed that the task of ensuring easy access to quality health for all Ghanaians could not be borne by only government and, therefore, it was important for NGOs, associations and individuals to also contribute their quota towards achieving that goal.
