Nii Asere Boi VII, the Chief of Asere in the Ga Mashie Traditional Area, has called for a peaceful Homowo Festival this year to promote development.
He said as humans, problems were bound to occur, but that should not mean “we are enemies.” “We should endeavour to embrace each other and find solutions to the problems confronting the Asere Dynasty,” he said.
Nii Boi made the call in a speech read for him by Nii Kwartei Kodjo II, the Ga State Akwaashon Mantse, at a news conference at the Asere Palace in Accra on Thursday.
He asked the people to avoid acrimony and petty squabbles to pave the way for communal interaction and development.
He urged the chiefs and elders of the Asere Divisional Council to use the unity being enjoyed as an opportunity to further build the spirit of togetherness at all times.
Numo Blafo Omaetu III, the Ga Wulomo, who graced the occasion, reminded the people that litigation had crippled the development of many communities and urged them to learn the processes of the performance of the rites during the Homowo to erase all misconceptions.
He appealed to the youth and elders who were affected by the recent impasse in the Ga Mashie Area to remain calm and cooperate with the chiefs for an amicable solution.
