Ashanti NDC Zongo Caucus salutes Muslims

Kumasi, Sept 21, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Zongo Caucus has congratulated Muslims for the successful end of their holy month of prayer and fasting.

It said it was its hope that the Muslims would use the Eid-Ul-Fitr festival to foster social cohesion amongst them regardless of ethnic, political and religious differences. This was contained in a statement jointly signed by Alhaji Othman Yahaya and Alhaji Alhassan Ibin Ibrahim, Regional Co-ordinator and Secretary, respectively, in Kumasi.

"It is our wish that the fasting and prayers have been accepted by Allah throughout this holy period of supplications." "Most importantly, we believe and hope that Muslims' prayers would ensure prosperity, success, good health and peaceful co-existence in the country," the statement noted. The statement also commended the Mills Administration for honouring the late Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah by commemorating the centenary of his birthday.

It expressed optimism that the celebration would be institutionalized in other African countries in view of the important role Dr Nkrumah played towards the emancipation of the continent from colonial rule.
