Ashanti NDC chairman funds school's workshop project

Mr. P.E.K. Antwi, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has provided 20 million cedis for the construction of a workshop for the Yaase-Adwafo Junior Secondary School (JSS) in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district.

The gesture, which is in response to an appeal made by the school, is to help the school put into use carpentry and other vocational training tools supplied it by the government which have been lying idle for many years.

Mr. Antwi disclosed this at a fund-raising harvest organised by the chiefs and people of Yaase in aid of drainage systems for the town.

The NDC regional chairman reminded the people that it is only when they take the initiative to better their living conditions that they could expect assistance from the government and the district assembly.

Mr. Isaac K. Nyame, the District Chief Executive, asked the people to take the National Population and Housing Census seriously to help provide a reliable data for development planning.

He advised qualified voters in the area to register when the voters register is opened to enable them to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming general elections.

The assembly member, Mr. Obuadum Dente, said the people are paying special development rates of 3,000 cedis a man and 2,000 cedis a woman for resident citizens towards the street drains project. Non-residents are contributing 5,000 cedis a man and 3,000 cedis a woman.
