Ashanti, here I come – Yammin

A Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Joseph Yammin, who was on Saturday, June 28 reassigned to the Ashanti Region by President John Dramani Mahama has welcomed the president's decision, noting it is a move back to his roots.

The Ashanti Region General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) took to Facebook a few hours after the announcement to express gratitude to President Mahama for reassigning him, describing his first appointment a year ago as a case of finding “mercy in the sight of the president”.

His unedited status on Saturday, June 28 read: “One year ago I found mercy in the sight of the president and he appointed me deputy minister for youth and sports; today am being moved back to my roots as Ashanti regional deputy minister; what else but to say am grateful Mr President, and I give glory to God. Ashanti here I come.”

Mr Yammin was reassigned together with his boss, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, who moves to the Presidency as a Minister of State.

He replaces Joseph Alexander Ackon, who has also been reassigned.

It is widely believed that both Mr Yammin and Afriyie Ankrah were reassigned as a result of the performance of the Black Stars at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
