Ashgold will be relegated – Ntow Fianko

Former Division One League Chairman, Lawyer Ntow Fianko has predicted that Ashanti Gold would not be able to beat the drop when the 2016-17 Ghana Premier League comes to an end.

The Miners have been woeful in the ongoing campaign, and are languishing at the foot of the league table with 9 points after 13 rounds of matches.

Their conundrum start to the season forced head coach Bashir Hayford to quit on personal grounds. Assistant trainer, Yakubu Mambo failed to hold the forth as the team went winless in three consecutive games under his tutelage.

The Obuasi-based club has now appointed Dreams FC coach and former player of team, Charles Kwabla Akonnor to steer the affairs of the club, but his arrival has not brought any remarkable changes.

The supporters have called on the long serving CEO Kudjoe Fiano to resign from his post because they believe he has not done much to help the team survive.

Ntow Fianko indicated nothing would change the fortunes of the 2014/15 Ghana Premier League winner’s fate. According to him, the club cannot avoid relegation as it’s staring at them.

‘’Ashanti Gold will go to relegation after this season. Only Asante Kotoko and Hearts Of Oak have not been relegated before since 1958,’’ he told Space FM.

‘’Going to relegation is like a chart and you can see clearly that the odds are against Ashanti Gold.

‘’So no matter what they will do this time round, they would be relegated from the Ghana Premier League.’’

Ashanti Gold have also been booted out of the MTN FA Cup by second-tier outfit Asokwa Deportivo.
