Ashietey retained unopposed as NPP Parliamentary candidate

Accra, March 27, GNA - The Member of Parliament for Tema East, Mr Ishmael Ashietey, was at the weekend retained unopposed as the NPP parliamentary candidate for this year's election.

Mr Ashietey expressed his gratitude to the delegates for giving him the opportunity to serve them once again. He appealed to ward leaders to organise forums in their areas to enable him to interact with them and help find solution to their problems.

Mr Ashietey said he placed a high premium on education hence the commitment of the greater part of his common fund to the sector. The MP said he had put up a community post office and provided 50 dual desks to the Oninku community and 50 others to Communities Four and Nine, adding that other schools were yet to be identified for similar assistance.

Plans are also far advanced to stock school libraries with books to facilitate teaching and learning in the Municipality. The MP said due to the vigilance and close monitoring of the Municipal Assembly's programmes, most projects initiated had been executed.

Nii Ayitey Boafo, Greater Accra Regional Secretary, who supervised the election, thanked members for their patience and comportment hoped the NPP would win power to better the lot of Ghanaians.

Present were Mr Albert Afaglo, Regional Youth Leader, and Mr Anim Addo, Constituency Chairman, of the party.
