President John Mahama’s challenger for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer slot has alleged the party’s General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia has appealed to him to rescind his decision.
According to George Boateng on the Ultimate Breakfast with Prince Minkah, he will not kill his presidential ambition because of General Mosquito’s – Nketia’s alias - budging requests.
“Asiedu Nketia himself does not know what is going on in the party. When I mentioned last week that on Thursday I was going to pick my forms, the next Friday President Mahama issued a cheque of GHc51, 000 to go and pay and pick his forms,” Boateng, who is being described by party stalwarts as a mentally unstable person, added.
“President Mahama has paid for his filing fees, ask Asiedu Nketia does he know that President Mahama has paid? When I picked my form, it took Asiedu Nketia by surprise…he called me begging that, what I’m saying is a joke. He thinks that I’m not going to contest the president and it will not make the president to be popular,” Boateng remarked.
Boateng believes he is the best person to represent the NDC in the 2016 presidential elections because to him, President Mahama has failed to deliver on the social democrat principles of the party.
He cites the collapse of the National Health Insurance Scheme and the educational system under the watch of Mahama.
One other key campaign message he is drumming home is to legalise cannabis and make it exportable to shore up Ghana’s economy.
Meanwhile, President Mahama is expected to pick his forms at the party’s headquarters in Adabraka today at 13.00hrs.
