General secretary of the National Democratic Congress has criticised the Electoral commission ahead of the 2020 elections, insisting the posture of the current leadership of the EC is a recipe for chaos.

Johnson Asiedu Nketia contends the actions of the jean Mensah led EC clearly points to an agenda well designed to satisfy a certain interest at the expense of the larger Ghanaian populace.

Speaking at a symposium organized by the Koforidua Technical university branch of TEIN, the NDC secretary warned of dire consequences over claims of the entrenched position adopted by the EC to conduct the upcoming limited registration exercise at the district level against suggestions to do it at electoral areas.

" It is not once it is not twice, several occasions the deputy chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Bossman had the effrontery to face Ghanaians to say that NDC is the threat to democracy in Ghana, does he deserve to remain in office if you want your peace? he quizzed. And Jean Mensah said nobody laughs at IPAC and ask that the commission does not owe explanation about how it conducts their business. And we asked why the development partners who used to be part of IPAC why are they no longer invited to IPAC, civil society organizations that specializes in governance they are no longer invited, when you find out why, you are told that, well, as for us we sent letters but we don't know why they are not coming.

He continued, someone sent letters and they were coming and are not interested in knowing why they are not coming, is it the case that they lack confidence in you or they consider you to be a basket case?

He called on the media and civil society groups to join forces in resisting decisions that will compromise elections in the country.

"If you are there and you see the Electoral Commission doing the wrong things and you say that I am a media man I don’t care about electoral commission I don’t participate in IPAC, I weep for you because when elections are compromised and there is conflict in the country do you know the people who die first – the media people". He warned.
