Ho, May 9, GNA - The Ho Asogli State Council has set up a 10-member Committee to monitor and evaluate the execution of all development projects in areas under its authority to ensure that funds are used for their intended purposes.
The Committee, under the Chairmanship of Togbe Adzi Lakle Howusu XIV Awafiaga of the Asogli State would also monitor the use of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), HIPC Fund, GETFUND, the Road Fund, the various poverty related funds and funds from Civil Society Organisations.
These initiative was contained in a Press release issued after the eighth meeting of the Council in Ho on Saturday, under the Chairmanship of Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia and President of the Council.
The release signed by Mr John Kukah, Secretary to the Agbogbomefia, stated that the Committee would appraise all projects funded by the Central Government, the Ho Municipal Assembly and NGOs. It said, 14 other specialised Committees to act as liaison between the Traditional Authority and the Various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) operating in the area have also been constituted. It expressed misgivings about the mode of participation of District Assemblies in the region's Education Fund launched recently in Ho.
The release said the Asogli State regarded the failure of Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to involve it in discussions leading to the launch of the Fund as "unfortunate", especially in view of the fact that the Council had intimated that it intended launching a similar fund. Other decisions taken at the meeting, the release said, included the establishment of a land bank and development of a website. It said the meeting also expressed concern about the breakdown in television transmission to most parts of the Volta Region for about three months now without any explanation from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).
