Ho, Sept. 21, GNA - This year's Yam Festival of the Asogli State, which commenced on September 17, will be climaxed with a grand durbar at Ho on Saturday, October 7.
This was contained in a release signed by Mr John Kukah, Secretary to the Asogli State Council on Wednesday.
The festival is under the theme: 'Indiscipline, The Canker Affecting the Growth and Development of Society".
The objectives of the celebration were to give thanks to God and the ancestors for a bumper harvest and to offer prayers for good health and prosperity.
It was also to foster unity through forgiveness and reconciliation, mobilize both human and material resources of Asogli State for job and wealth creation and also as an annual re-affirmation of allegiance by all chiefs and their subjects in the Asogli State to the Agbogbome Stool.
Some highlights of the festival were "Adanukofe", a packaged event involving traditional music and dance, folk stories, Ewe proverbs, Ewe parables and Ewe poems, a cooking contest, state dance and a thanksgiving service.
Some dignitaries expected at the state durbar include Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and Togbe Agokoli of Notsie IV in the Republic of Togo.
