Asokore Traditional Council bans health walks by political parties

The Asokore Traditional Council in the New Juaben Municipality on Monday evening brokered peace between the two rival parties, the ruling National Democratic Congress and the opposition new patriotic after the Chief of Asokore, Nana Antwi Panyin ll summoned the leaders of both parties to his palace following a bloody clash last Sunday.

The Parliamentary Candidates for the NDC and NPP, Haruna Apau-Wiredu and Nana Adjei Boateng who doubles as the incumbent MP respectively, promised their commitment to ensuring peace before, during and after the election.

The Chief, troubled by last Sunday clashes which led to the injury of at least 10 supporters from both parties, impressed on the leaders to control the supporters to also commit to peace despite provocation instead use the right channel to redress their grievances .

Meanwhile,the Traditional Council has cancelled all health walk activities by the NDC and NPP in New Juaben North constituency .

However, the Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP ACP Nuhu Jango, after a meeting with the two parties, has directed that they should not hold political programs simultaneously to avert clashes, hence time table for their political activities assigned on rotation which includes Health walk.
