Sunyani (B/A) June 3 GNA - Dr Kofi Barimah, a Senior Lecturer at the Catholic University of Ghana, Fiapre, near Sunyani has called on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to apply the Party's code of ethics against members and supporters who would cause confusion, violence and acrimony before, during and after the electioneering campaigns.
He emphasized that this would ensure free, fair and peaceful elections that the nation was yearning for during Election 2004. Dr Barimah, who has filed his nomination papers to contest the primaries of the NPP in the Sunyani East Constituency made the call in an interview with Ghana News Agency on Wednesday.
He explained that if deviant supporters and members of the ruling party were sanctioned it would discourage activists of other parties from misbehaving.
Dr Barimah, said, "NPP is a strong family under the great elephant and is definitely going to retain power in the December general election."
The aspiring MP commended the Government for its achievements in terms of development within the three years in office and urged NPP supporters and members to unite and intensify the campaign in Brong-Ahafo region to enable the Party to capture the parliamentary seats won by the opposing parties in the 2000 elections.
