Aspiring MP to establish Kpone Educational Endowment Fund

Accra (E/R), Aug 27, GNA - Mr. Solomon Tettey Appiah, the aspiring NPP Parliamentary candidate for Kpone-Katamanso Constituency, has said that he would contribute towards the establishment of Educational Endowment Fund if he becomes an MP.

He said that the fund to be managed by the traditional authorities and other stakeholders would avoid the situation where teachers asked school children to go home, because they owed school fees and other bills.

Mr Appiah said this when he and some party executive members joined the chiefs and people of Kpone Sanshie We (clan), to celebrate this year's Homowo festival.

The aspiring candidate was accompanied by Mr. Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City, and Mr. Samuel Ashong-Narh, Tema Municipal Chief Executive.

The other members of the delegation were Mr Ben Annan, Presiding Member of the AMA, Mr Oblitei Solomon, Greater Accra Regional Vice Chairman and Madam Wuinie Amankwa Tetteh, Women's Organiser of the party.

They also visited the Royal House, Appiah We, Bediako We, Sackey We, Amane We, Agyeman We, Kojo We, Okpla Naa We, Nii Dun We, Nuertey We, Ofosu Oblie We, Osro We and the Antie We, to wish them good health and prosperity in the years ahead.

Introducing himself as the candidate of the NPP, Mr Appiah said he would ensure a good road layout of the area, to link other towns and villages to promote trade.

He stressed that since technical education was important, he would assist the people to establish one for the youth to learn vocations. Nii Tetteh Out II, Paramount Chief of the town, appealed to the people to bury their differences so that they could use the festival to chart a new course to bring about social amenities to improve their living conditions.

Nii Out, who is also the President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, advised political parties to go about their campaign devoid of petty squabbles and confusion.

Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey thanked the chiefs and elders for their co-operation and said the NPP Government would not relent in its effort to send development projects to the area.
