Aspiring NDC Propaganda Secretary killed in motor accident

Juaso (Ash), Jan. 4, GNA - Adam Sani Boniface, Aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) Propaganda Secretary, was among 14 people killed in a head-on collision of a Ford bus and a KIA truck at the outskirts of Konongo on Sunday night.

He was travelling on the Ford bus to Accra after attending a Party meeting in Kumasi.

A family Spokesperson, Alhaji Junior Sani told GNA that Adam would be buried Monday evening in accordance with Islam rites. Adam, 45, was an employee of the Ghana Education Service. He is survived by a wife and two children.

Nine persons died on the spot. Three died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and two others at Agogo Presbyterian Hospital. The bodies of the deceased with the exception of the two, who died at the Agogo Hospital, have been deposited at KATH morgue for autopsy. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), John Mbrah, Konongo Divisional Commander of the Motor Traffic Transport Unit (MTTU), who briefed the GNA said a faulty Leyland truck with registration number AS 1803 F, had parked by the roadside with a part of its body on the road. He said at about 1930 hours on Sunday, the KIA Rhino with registration number GR 9321 Q in an attempt to by pass the truck collided with the Ford, which was heading towards Accra with passengers on board, killing nine on the spot.

According to ASP Mbrah other passengers, who sustained various degrees of injury, were rushed to KATH and Agogo Hospital. He said the driver of the truck; Busia Nanie was in Police custody to assist in investigations while efforts were being made to identify the victims. 4 Jan. 10
