Aspiring independent candidate unveils manifesto

Mirigu (U/E), Aug 15, GNA - Mr Rudolf Amenga-Etego, an aspiring parliamentary candidate for the Chiana-Paga Constituency in the Upper East Region, on Friday launched his manifesto at Mirigu in the new Kassena-Nankana West District.

The 47-year old legal practitioner called on the electorates to give him the mandate by voting for him come December 7, 2008 to promote peace and development in the constituency.

Mr Amenga-Etego noted that without peace no meaningful development could be achieved and promised to be an advocate of peace and development.

He said he would work to resolve all conflicts in the area since the establishment of the district council in 1991 in order to accelerate development in the constituency.

Mr Amenga-Etego said he would promote agriculture by establishing small scale irrigation dams to reduce poverty.

He said when that was done, the migration of people especially the youth from the north to the southern sector in search of non-existent jobs, would be reduced.

Mr Amenga-Etego said he would provide education scholarships for needy but brilliant children, when voted into office as an MP. Community library, he noted, would also be established in the constituency to enable students have access to books and other learning materials that would enhance their academic work.

He also promised construct a community centre in the area where functions could be held.

The aspirant said lack of potable water and sanitation was a major problem confronting the area and assured that more boreholes would be constructed to help address the water problem when voted into power.

The manifesto was launched under the theme: "Solidifying Unity in the Constituency for Sustainable Development."
