The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has threatened to sue the government if it lays off workers who were added to the payroll after December 7, 2024.

According to him, the government has no right to undertake such an action, as it is unconstitutional.

Speaking on Accra-based Adom TV on January 24, 2025, he noted that the Chief of Staff, through a letter, has requested various government agencies to submit a list of persons added to their payroll.

"Most of these young people have been with these government agencies since October. However, you know how these agencies operate. They may have been added after December 7, 2024, due to procedural delays.

"Just because they were added after December 7 does not mean you have to dismiss them. If such an action is taken, I will be one of those who will take this matter to court to ensure their rights are protected," he stated during the interview on Adom TV.
