Assembly donates roofing items to school

Zang (N/R), May 24, GNA - The Yendi District Assembly has presented large quantity of wood, five bundles of roofing sheets and eight packets of roofing nails valued at 14.6 million cedis to the Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) of the Zang L/A. Primary School to roof the school's three newly-constructed classroom blocks.

The PTA initiated the project while the community contributed local materials and communal labour.

Mr Mohammed Habib Tijani, Yendi District Chief Executive who presented the items on behalf of the assembly, commended the people of Zang for their self-help spirit and urged other communities in the area to emulate them.

He encouraged the communities and the PTAs to continue to initiate and undertake self-help projects to attract the attention of government and other development partners to supplement their development efforts. Mr Ziblim Nantogmah, the District Director of Education who received the items on behalf of the people, thanked the assembly for the assistance and called for cooperation among the assembly, PTAs, teachers and the communities to enhance teaching and learning in the schools. He called on parents to visit their children in school regularly to find out about their academic performance.

Mr Nantogmah appealed to the people to honour their tax obligations to enable the government to provide more social amenities for their communities.
