SVANI Ghana Limited, the authorized dealers in Renault vehicles in the country has been commended for its contributions towards nation building, by helping to facilitate quality healthcare delivery in the country.

The Ghanaian owned leading automobile company presented six ambulances to the Rebecca Foundation of which Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, is the founder.

The first lady subsequently presented the vehicles fitted with the relevant medical equipment to selected health institutions on Wednesday.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Friday, Mr Richard Kwadwo Adu, the Assemblyman for the Ntoase Electoral Area, in the Wenchi Municipality, noted that the donation by SVANI Ghana Limited was an indication that the private sector had embraced President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s vision of developing the nation beyond aid and was ready to contribute in that respect.

The beneficiary health facilities of the ambulances are the Osu Maternity Home, the Sakumono Community Hospital, the Valley View University hospital and the Rebecca Akufo-Addo PICU at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital all in the Greater Accra Region. The others are the West Gonja District Assembly Polyclinic in the Northern Region and the Okomfo Anokye Mother and Baby Unit in the Ashanti Region.

Mr Adu, who is a former Wenchi constituency youth organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said government was getting private sector support towards national reconstruction because of good governance and the solid foundation the NPP government was laying, and praised Mr Thomas Svaniker, the Chief Executive Officer of SVANI for his vision to help build better Ghana.

“Mr Svaniker has truly demonstrated genuine sense of statesmanship, patriotism and love for nation”, the Assemblyman said, and rallied support from other private establishments to enable President Akufo-Addo to push the development of the nation to the next level.

He indicated that the government required active support from the private sector to achieve desirable results for its social intervention and transformational policies such as the Planting for Food and Jobs (PfFJs), One-District-One-Factory (IDIF), and the Rearing for Food and Jobs programme.

Mr Adu emphasised that improvements in key sectors like agriculture, education and health had the potential to transform the fortunes of the nation, and propel the country into middle income bracket, and called on the private sector, as the engine of growth and development, to invest into these sectors.
