Assemblywoman leads Anlokordzi youth to demolish drug peddlers’ hideouts

Madam Sheeba Aloryitor, Assemblywoman for Toviadzi Electoral Area, on Monday morning led a team of young people in the area to demolish structures suspected to be hideouts of drug peddlers.

The youth with the support of men from the 66 Artillery Regiment (Volta Barracks) pulled down a thatched house and closed down several drinking spots in the community.

Five young men who were spotted in some of the drinking spots were arrested and handed over to the Ho Municipal Police.

Madam Aloryitor told the GNA that the operation was to clear the name of the area as a hub for miscreants and drug peddlers.

“People here are generally peaceful and hardworking and will not allow miscreants from other towns and communities to come and hide here and tarnish the name of Anlokordzi,” she said.

Mr. James Attipoe, an opinion leader in the area, said miscreants had tarnished the name of the area to the extent that people from the area found it difficult to get jobs and spouses.

Meanwhile, the town is calm after a police swoop in the area yesterday turned bloody leading to the death of one Atsu Mensah, 22.**
