Mr Nicholas Fiifi Baako, Assin North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has called on citizens of the area not to sit on the fringes but contribute meaningfully to the development of their localities.
He said the surest way to deepen democracy was to bring local government to the doorstep of people in the grassroots to ensure their participation in the governance process.
The MCE made the call during a thanksgiving and fund raising service held by "Osonomba", one of the youth wings of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Assin Constituency of the Central Region last Sunday.
He promised to maintain an open-door policy to welcome everybody within the municipality regardless of their political affiliation to offer suggestions or point out mistakes in his administration so as to foster unity and sustainable development of the area.
Mr Baako advised NPP members to desist from discussing internal party issues in public, saying most political parties around the world that succeeded in governance managed to settle internal wrangling using internal party structures, which won them multiple elections.
He said the NPP could fully accomplish its mission of transforming the economic fortunes of the country through sound policies and programmes, if it was given the necessary support by all.
"I want to advise members of the NPP not to be enemies to themselves by washing their dirty linens in public. This attitude gives the party a bad name, derails government efforts and does not attract people to the party."
He said "as party people, particularly communicators, you must always crosscheck from the Assembly instead of sometimes jumping into conclusions and muddying the waters on the airwaves".
The MCE promised to help speed up socio-economic and infrastructural development to bring prosperity to all citizens of the area.
He said government and the Assembly had prioritised development projects with prudent management of limited resources and would pursue policy initiatives to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.
To achieve that, the MCE promised the government's support to the private sector, especially the growth of indigenous Ghanaian businesses and foreign investments.
In addition to that, he said the Assembly had put together well thought-out and cutting edge investment packages to step up private sector investments in the area to boost the local economy.
On health, Mr Adams said he would work in collaboration with the District Health Services to improve health delivery system in the municipality.
He also assured to improve on the poor road network in the area to facilitate the free movement of goods and services.
He advised assembly members to educate their people after each assembly meeting in order for them to be abreast with matters concerning their areas.
Mr Dominic Boa Agyeman, Secretary of the group, thanked the people of the area for voting massively for the party in the 2016 general election.
He indicated their preparedness to propagate the works of the government during their various public outreach programmes.
